cut planks

Some planks and a 4×4.
They will be used for window sills inside the building as well as door framing. Cocky be-gone…..

Outside off-cuts will be draw knifed smooth and used for stairway posts on the staircase banisters.

Working with cedar is fun. In 2000 when they were having a lot of construction going around here I was able to scoop up a bunch of cedar trees. I stripped them down and made 2 cedar beds, one with carvings the other plain. My son wanted a topless Mermaid on his, yeah right, mom is not doing that, LOL! I just hope I’ll be capable to do the same once again when I start on my earthbag home.
Your blog has been more informative than the Cal-Earth page. I’ll be building mine in Dixie County close to the coast. But I’ll probably have to get my cedar from a local small mill tree fella, lol. I was wondering though, what kind of issues did you have with the building codes? Also you had mentioned that your doorway arch collapsed because you didn’t put cement in with the mix, why were you not using cement? What kind of mixture should we use for this area?
