Using a home made tea bucket to make Llama composting tea.
Llama’s are quite considerate. They toilet in the same spot which makes pooh collection easy!
The bucket is a 5 gallon job with a veggie strainer/washer insert that cost a dollar. The fish tank pump etc was about 10 bucks. So all in all you can have a nice system for about $15 fitted with a discharge valve.
I bought a new blender just for composting work. (Keeping it in the workshop. Just incase)
How do you like part with the spoon cleaning then? Back to the kitchen it goes.
Put the finished tea through a strainer if you use a pump.
The mix came out very well. Could have put more Llama and other ingredients in it to top it up. Strained through some cheese cloth and sprayed the lucky (?) plants.
The video came out a little mickey mouse, but I will redo it soon?
Items required to build the tea system
The few items you will need are a 5 gal. bucket, with a hole drilled in it to fit the ball valve or tap. Make it about an inch above the bottom so that the tea dregs do not drain out when you decant the tea. Put a 90° elbow on the outside. Glue with epoxy two part glue.
Aquarium pump, single is good enough for this size container. Drill a hole in the rim of the bucket lid to pass the pump pipe through and connect the pipe to the little aerator/bubble making thing…
Top up with water. Add the composting components.
