Off the grid bag sewing:

Sewing custom sized bags. Taking care not to stitch fingers here.

The machine belonged to the children’s Ouma grootjie (Great grandmother) Kathu in South Africa. Still running well. (1950 model).

We stitch smaller “test” bags for internal walls size, then Charlene does the stitching in bulk on her machine for us. Well, until little arrived, now time is a challenge so His Nibs does it again….

The short needle on the left is too thick really, but is nice and strong.

The center one is a bit bent from double bag use .. and it doesn’t matter.

We found stitching with thread on double bags to work best for us.

Single bag:  angle cut fencing wire.

Sewing-Awl

The sewing-Awl is a great tool tool have. Even though it cannot be adapted for sewing up bags.
Too slow and you need access to the inside of the filled bag.

You can use it for sewing folded bags – but it would be far too slow. We messed with it anyway!
