Bagging

bags 13 x 7 x 21 Bagging

Bags:13 x 7 x 21

Lay flat size of the bags is 18″ x 4″ x 29″. These bags are filled with HRock/clay soil/cement and tamped in 3 stages on filling.
The foundation bags are cement stabilized. Double bagged. The rest of the bags are filled with lime road base or clay based soil.
Finished size of the bags are about  14″ x 7″ x 21″.
Three places you can use to check levels: (besides the water level demonstrated later)
Long level on far side for horizontal, yellow one the compass arm and short torpedo level just behind the tamper.
The bag holder is a tomato cage and works very well.

This close up shows how nicely the bags can be laid if they are filled to the top and tamped when filling.
They are tied close using poly cord as demonstrated in the bag closing section. There is about 3″ of foundation in front of the bag which will be filled in with more rock about 3″ high (as well as the bottom of the floor) to minimize water percolating up.

    Greetings Mike,
I am curious as to what bag supplier you used. The southern sun is so destructive, did you have problems with any bag brand more or less than another? I am currently shopping for supplies to build a small structure in Southern Georgia.

I am in west central Florida. How much cement do you put in the mix to withstand the humidity? Here we have yellow clay/ lom clay (the white stuff i think) ist that suitable for building a bag home?
